Description:

Clarence H. Waldron was pastor of a Baptist church in Windsor, Vermont, when he embraced the Pentecostal movement. Church members who opposed Pentecostalism tried to remove him as pastor by claiming that his advocacy of pacifism violated the Federal Espionage Act. His highly-publicized 1918 trial was an important case regarding religious liberty. He was convicted and spent one year in federal prison. Waldron was credentialed by the Assemblies of God in 1920.
